Step-by-Step: How to Use Flexi Frost & Carve

1. Carve Your Cake

  • Place the cutting template on your cake.

  • Cut straight down with your knife—do not cut at an angle.

  • This ensures clean edges and the correct shape for frosting.

2. Secure the Bottom Plate

  • Attach one Flexi Frost plate to a cake board using a few small dots of buttercream.

  • This keeps the plate stable while assembling your cake.

3. Stack and Fill

  • Place the cake within the marked lines on the bottom plate.

  • Fill and stack your cake layers as usual.

  • Refrigerate your cake once stacked to ensure the buttercream is firm before moving on
  •

Optional:
Apply a light crumb coat and chill the cake in the fridge to lock in crumbs and improve the final finish.

4. Prepare the Buttercream for a Smooth Peel

For the smoothest removal:

  • Take a small amount of buttercream and microwave it for 10–15 seconds.

  • Mix it back into your main batch to remove air bubbles.

  • Evenly spread this softened buttercream onto the Flexi Frost plate.

Flip the plate over and gently press it onto the cake. Use a scraper to ensure the plates are even, and scrape off any excess buttercream. Add the excess back into your bowl and stir to combine.

5. Frost the Sides

  • Pipe or spread thicker buttercream around the sides of the cake.

  • Use a scraper to smooth the buttercream, adding more where needed.

  • Continue scraping until the sides are smooth and even.

6. Chill the Cake

  • Place the cake in the fridge for several hours or overnight.

  • Chilling allows the buttercream to fully set, ensuring a clean release from the plates.

7. Remove the Flexi Frost Plates

  • Place a cake board on top and flip the cake to remove the bottom plate first.

  • Flip the cake back upright with another cake board on top.

  • Carefully peel off the top plate, starting from one side and then the opposite side for the cleanest peel.

If needed, fill in any small air bubbles with a bit of buttercream.
